Worker Health
Based on the "people-orientated" philosophy, Pou Chen commits to offer its workers a better working environment and cooperates with branded companies to follow the code of conduct with regard to labor rights, such as "no mandatory labor", "no child labor", "no discrimination", "no maltreating", "health and security", "freedom of forming labor union", which is meant to create a healthy environment and to improve workers performance. In practice, Pou Chen not only offered the dormitory to arrange the residence, but also devoted to building up the communication channels between workers and management teams. Pou Chen has provided different kinds of methods and channels to help employees solving their problems at work and in living. In addition, Pou Chen spared no effort in training programs to improve workers' capability and held various contests and recreation activities frequently to enrich workers' lives.
Environmental Protection
In accordance with industry specific requirements and its owned judgments based on the past, current and future possible occasions, Pou Chen has set up four criteria to evaluate the safety of its working environment, which are "relative good and harm", "technical feasibility", "financial analysis" and "company policy". Among all of the environmental considerations, it can say that solid waste handling, water pollution prevention and chemical material management are the most significant issues.
Solid Waste Handling:
Scrap leather trimming waste is classified and placed in recycling containers and has been measured aggressively to reduce waste in production.
Water Pollution Prevention:
After implementation of wastewater treatment facility, the cooling water can be recycled for use; meanwhile, the wastewater is tested periodically, and the test result is recorded as Test Report for management reference.
Chemical Material Management:
The plants use lots of different kinds of chemicals, so that the usage of chemicals is strictly complied with the safety management and the requirement of examination reports. The users can also inquire the accurate information of chemicals via Internet to minimize the exposure risk and possible damage.
Worker Safety
Pou Chen brought out the "Worker Safety Information Policy and Basic Standards" and "Worker Safety Information Memorandum" to set forth concretely the Group's safety and sanitation promises for its operations.
Pou Chen held randomly fire-drill training for security guards to enhance their skill of fire prevention and contingency. Furthermore, the Group conducted the Safety Committee Meeting on a monthly basis in order to review and minimize the industrial injury at early stages. Besides periodically repair of every fixture, Pou Chen also paid attention to the safety management of dormitory and restaurant through employees' questionnaire to create a better and safer living environment for its employees.
Social Participation
Except making efforts in workers' health, environmental protection and workers' safety, the Group also established "Yue Yuen Educational Foundation", and participates in a variety of activities through its overseas locations, including sponsorship, donations to charitable organization and the fostering of social values among staff.
